Coming from a humble background in Épinay-sur-Orge, France, Matthias Dandois blurs the line between flat and street through his constant progression and creativity. He was crowned the world’s best BMX flatlander in October 2008 – some feat for the then 19-year-old. But the victory was the culmination of six years hard work in the sport. Matthias began life riding street but in 2002 he saw someone riding flatland in his local skatepark, and fancied his chances.

“I’ve learned so many things. From now on I will listen to my body. I’ve learned how to eat healthily, how to be patient, and how to think about something other than bike riding. I’m actually so thankful for this accident, seriously.”
