Seen by 118.5 million viewers around the world, the Katy Perry Halftime Show was part of history’s most expensive Super Bowl yet.

With the average price of a sold ticket for NFL Super Bowl XLIX trading between $4,600 and $4,131, the most televised event on earth is also deemed as the most expensive event in NFL history.
According to StubHub, ticket sellers were selling at phenomenal rates. In past years, they would rely on the price dropping as it got closer to the game in order to make their margin on the sale. Except this year that didn’t happen.
Besides the love for the game, the Halftime Show blew away stats across the board. Viewership of the game surged to 120.8 million in the dramatic fourth quarter. Katy Perry with Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz captivated over 118.5 million viewers.
We love this opportunity, but once you decide you’re gonna do the Super Bowl, you’re gonna have no f—ing life for six months…It is the biggest thing. Anyone that’s ever done it has been scared s—less. You stay off the Internet for the five days afterward.

According to Katy Perry, committing to the halftime show meant that she trained rigorously daily to successfully deliver a worthy performance.
To put that into perspective, Katy Perry’s show drew in 3 million more viewers than the Bruno Mars record at 115.3 million. The previous halftime champion was Madonna’s 2012 performance with M.I.A and Nicki Minaj culminating about 114 million viewers. This means that Katy’s show broke NFL records for most viewers in history.
Katy must have been astounded as the original expectation for most views was set at 113 million. She has performed 108 shows so far in her worldwide Prismatic tour, in front of roughly two million fans combined.
