After two knee surgeries in 2013, Lindsey Vonn missed most of the last two seasons, including the Sochi Olympics.  When Vonn announced she wouldn’t be able to compete in Sochi, many were curious if she would even return to the podium.

Once again, Vonn proved otherwise and extended the all-time record to 64 World Cup wins.  She is now the first woman to win 3 times in super-G at the famous St. Moritz event.  The 64 World Cup victories are an all-time women’s record, passing Annemarie Moser-Pröll of Austria who had held the record since the 1970s, and only Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden with 86 Men World Cup victories has more.

By the next Winter Olympics in 2018, Vonn would be 33 years old.  Vonn is one of six women to have won World Cup races in all five disciplines of alpine skiing – downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined.

With her Olympic gold and bronze medals, two World Championship gold medals in 2009 (plus three silver medals in 2007 and 2011), and four overall World Cup titles, Vonn has become the most successful American ski racer in history.
