How tall is the tower in Northern Nevada? Anyone can take a guess, but only the jumpers would know for sure.
Regardless, it isn’t for the faint hearted. Northern Nevada is home to at least 8 National Parks. There are 68 designated wilderness areas in Nevada, protecting some 6,579,014 acres under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service, U.S. Forest Service, and Bureau of Land Management. For Base Jumpers JT Holmes and Mark Broderick this really means a massive amount of open land to play with.
According to JT Holmes, he runs a few memories through his mind before he takes the leap of faith.
Just before I jump, I often think of friends lost, and I think of my family and what would happen if I died. It focuses me; it’s the last moment for me to ask myself, Is this a reasonable risk to take? If I don’t think it is, I walk away.
